If many EB3-I folks are getting GCs then why is EB3-I PD stuck in 2001? Shouldn't it move?
I feel where you are coming from; I am also from the waited four years to get approved from filing 485 club.
btw; every person I know of from India who has gotten green from October 2008 were those eb3 guys who converted to eb2 through perm labor. I have a feeling that this is going to cause a lot of stress to eb2 as many people have been able to obtain old priority dates through eb3. Maybe not much solace but with perm labors taking 9 months to get approved now (most recent approvals were filed in July 2008) it does help India a bit. It is taking longer for eb2 ROW to get into 140/485 que and would cause more visas to be spilled over. If labors were getting approved fast then there would be less spillover in this fiscal year.
Department of State is really playing with people with their continuing change of how they are interpreting the law with regards to visa spillover. In Mid 90's I left USA (one of the reasons; not main reason was because I was told it would take about three years to get greencard; looks like a small wait compared to now).

Thats right. I don't see any issues with EB1 or EB2 movement, For gods sake EB2 came to 2005, EB1 is current. It is funny when the other poster said we need to work for EB1 also(It is current, what else you want to do there?).

It means they have used 90K Visa out of 140-150K ..it means 50K visa left for next 5 month..not sure how much visa dates wlll be moved.

If EB3 ROW becomes current or close to current next visa bulliten there might be some movement for India and china in coming months or atleast IN FY 2009.

Mr. Vayalar Ravi , Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs,is coming to USA on June 27,2006. He is coming to Washington DC on July 4 to meet Indian Ambassador and Indian community. I Remember US companies directly recruiting from India during 1997-99 .This was a very costly affair for the companies. They used to take phone interviews, and then sponsor the H1B for the employee with very high Compensation, pay the tickets for employee and family( usually first class) , give hotel/furnished apartments for 1-2 months, Rental cars etc. This was done when there was a genuine need for the company to hire H1B's as they could not find enough qualified people in US. By 2000 the equation changed and small H1b companies started appearing like mushrooms in most of the big cities who asked for H1B filing fees. Companies were also gaining from this as they have no legal hassle of H1b and the rates were competitive.

Does section 201 mean that those with advanced degrees from US Universities are exempt from the 3 year requirement? This clarification is critical because of the 3 years in the RELATED field clause. I do not believe any of the other bills incorporating similar provisions have made this distinction for US advanced degree holders vs advanced degree holders from other countries. I believe all other bills impose the 3 year RELATED field restriction for ALL advanced degree holders.
If the 3 year RELATED field clause does not exist for US advanced degree holders in STEM, it would give relief to many members.

In our case we don't even know who the culprit is (USCIS/DOS/Capitol Hill/Anti-Immigrants/Lobbyists). The only thing that would come out of these flowers is a security alarm. I know many would take this as a negative approach, but this is the most logical outcome of this deed.
On a lighter note, if sending flowers/fruits would have won hearts of the immigration officers, imagine how easy GC would be for those illegal immigrants who work in the farms.

I myself have EAD and i support 485 filing without priority date getting current. Even though in the final GC scheme of things that puts a whole bunch of more peope ahead of me, I still support it. At least an EAD lets you chnage a job after 180 days albeit in the same job specification.

I have sent emails as per the clear (thanks) instructions. I have a small suggestion (correction). Instead of ending with "Thanks, .... Your Name", I suggest using "Thank You, ..... Your Name". IMHO, "Thanks" is used among friends and family and "Thank You" would be used for being more formal.

Assume that we convert to EB2 from next week..how long would it take to get to the I-485 stage.??..given an ideal scenario of no audits..PERM 3-6 months and I-1140 can we expidite??. in 15 days..

I agree with move. I will participate. Please add EB1 also in the list. EB1 also should get the GC based on priority as the title of the thread says. Also remove the country quota. That will make it purely first come first serve basis. Everybody is treated equally irrespective of country or background.

Why did you file EAD? Waste of money. You will be getting your GC anytime. EB2 ROW is curent.
