I respect your opinion.
There is no indication that "Republicans" are taking a hit by not passing the bill. In fact, if you go to Congress.org you will polls there showing that Americans prefer no bill instead of "a bad bill". By bad bill they mean, the amnesty one, CIR.
Folks, what we need to remember is that this country is still a democracy. When you see AILA - which is a reliable source in this case - reporting that 400:1 calls are being placed against CIR, that is a serious business. Looking at results of recent elections, you can tell that there is increasing indication that voters are paying attention to candidates which are strong in immigration records. Sen. Bilbray (R) recently won the election in spite of Republicans poor performance. In my state, Maria Cantwell (D) is showing no gaps against an incumbent, who happens to be Republican. In Utah, Sen. Cannon (R) but pro CIR is fighting very hard against an incumbent. Election results for this will be known tomorrow, but the fact that he is fighting is the indication one needs to believe that representatives fighting against CIR/amnesty are looking good, regardless which party the individual is in. CIR is known mainly is an amnesty bill. Therefore not passing CIR seems to be perceived by voters as a good thing. Also, there are already many laws that if executed, could aleviate the flow of illegal immigration and provide some security to the border until the House gathers enough support to pass a more enforcement only bill. Personally I have hopes that IF the House proposals prevail after the elections in November, then it is when we could see a kind of Cornyn/Kyl bill passed ?

If we continue this route of expecting that a bill with amnesty provisions on it will save us, you many need to be prepared for a long wait to see that happening. If it is true that our lobbying efforts are useless and have no chances to leverage a bill of our own cause, so darn, I will just pray, watch, give no donations and wait in a very passive way and see what happens.
IV has done a great job by making all the contact information with the lobbying group, now we need to engage them to lobby for our bill only. If that's not possible, then I think there is no major reason to donate or take action on this anymore. Just wait and let the big guys (AILA, Catholic Curch, Laraza) battle for CIR and see what happens.

You can do all you want and be as blunt. USCIS doesn't have to answer to you. Stop chanting the "HIGHLY SKILLED", paying all taxes, nonsense. You were not brought to the USA at gun point. You chose to come (and stay). The USA can just put one ad in the newspaper anywhere in the world and there will be 10 million highly skilled NEW people they can bring. They do not need you (us). The lud happened on 7/27/2008.
I got my card today.
It starts on the next day of my old cards expiry date.
Validity is for one year only though.

Wait till next week-end. My 140 mailed to NSC on 11th April (why?? not sure) and received RN from texas. ND was dated 19th April. RD was 13th April.
Now # of applications are more so it can take more time but your RD will be maintained.

I am seeing lot of heat and frustration out here and it is understandable to whole extent. First of all, I am a DC/MD/VA state chapter member and working towards achieving goals of getting GC in one year. Sounds funny right!!!! But it is true. We are working at grass roots with the National Leadership of IV to get things going at individual constituency level. I just posted this on another thread on IV. You might be knowing that DC Metro area should be having thousands of professionals making good money and stuck in this mess!!! Thousands!!! Do you know how many active members we have for this chapter!!! around 160!!!! Do you know how many turn up for weekly chapter meeting!!! 15!!!! But we are fortunate two have these 15 people who are putting their time and effort to talk to lawmakers.... These people also donate money. By the way these people are mix of EB 2 and EB 3. Do not try to create this division of EB2 and EB3. Some of the people running this IV have their green card but they are still putting in their time for you guys to lobby....It just takes 25$ each month to become donor but people don't want to do that. Don't think that IV will show you proof of concept for you to start donating. If you cannot volunteer, just keep quiet and wait for next VB. I also know that people cannot make to state chapter meeting because of commitments, distance etc. Understandable but have they asked state chapter via email what all they can do in their constituency to sort this out......Join State Chapter and see what all IV is doing...You guys have no idea what all is going on behind....If you think you can help...at least start donating and more important....start volunteering with your state chapter....If thousands of us start screaming to our lawmakers office....you will not need money to lobby anymore.....

If you think its more complexes then I will go with PD only.
New PD means either you are new in US or you dint applied or you got laid off. What ever is the reason of new PD, you or your luck are involved so only you should be responsible. My previous PD was Jul, 2003 with EB2 but INC canceled my company�s LC in group because my company didn�t apply from co-operate office and there was no one in office during INC raid. Later my company applied LC from co-operate office and I got new PD. Even though It would be unfair to talk about experience because some how my or me are involved here.
So let�s keep only PD as only preference.

Its not as if we havent been trying all this time. Look what we are up against : we have neither the numbers of the illegals nor the lobbying power of the entire agriculture industry (not to speak of the church) behind us. The story of a law-abiding,tax-paying resident trying to remain here just does not make for a glamorous cause for either the media or the politicians. Whatever little attention the media gives us is gobbled up by either the H1-B visa increase lobbyists or someone complaining about not being able to re-unite with his wife/brother etc etc in the US !! And to top it all, the anti-immigrationalists will go out of their way to see us clubbed together with the illegals; even as they shed crocodile tears for legal immigrants affected by amnesty.
In short, none of the "movers and shakers" have a vested interest in us.Thats the hard truth.

Hi all,
My wife and I just got receipts for our I-485, I-140, AP and EAD. The "received date" is July 7 and the "Notice Date" is September 13. I also confirmed that the checks were cashed.
I remember my attorney saying that the applications were filed at NSC but somehow my receipts came from VSC. And this morning I receive an update that my I-485 has been transferred to TSC! Here is the detail:
"On September 20, 2007, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER
PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our TEXAS SERVICE CENTER location for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer".

My primary point is EB dependents must be out of EB quota.
There is no legal basis for them to be in EB quota. period.
I would not support this at all. Though it would clear the back log for the primary immigrant. What about the spouse and children. When you get your GC, dont you want to get it for your spouse and kids. Do you want them to keep in limbo for five years. It can be counted against family quota but should be given along with the primary. Otherwise its crap.
This might be antis work to divide the community. So be aware.

It is just a letter recognizing that there was a SR made etc...
There really is no substance to it. You should get your letter before 45 days of creating the SR. I got mine on the 45th day.
Once again, the letter says nothing. What should happen is that your FP appointment should be made during the 45 days after you create a SR. If it is not made, you get "the letter." After the letter, I was told to wait 60 days from when I received the letter to get FP appointment and if I didn't get them within those days to call back.
Last week I called USCIS regarding FP and Customer Representative told me that they have sent me a letter on 21st of Oct regarding SR I opened in the month of OCT (I haven't received that letter yet. Do not know where they sent it). I asked her about the content of the letter but she said she doesn't have that information and I have to wait till 19th Dec to open new SR. She suggested visiting local USCIS through Infopass. I have taken infopass appointment for this coming Friday. I will update you on Friday about the appointment.

Q1 ... Do you as an American support CIR for resolving immigration issues this country faces ?
Q2 ... Do you as an American support CIR so that illegal immigrants be a Citizen of this country ?
Looks at the above two questions, I think for Q1 lot of people would say "Yes" and "No" for the Q2, so I never beleive on the polls , the questions are always framed to get the answer the poll wants.
